Honing and optical polishing services with diamond abrasives

Process development, training and comprehensive technical support services are offered in our recently renovated and fully equipped technical test center.

Our technical lapping center in the UK is equipped with over 15 Kemet lapping and polishing machines ranging from 15" to 48", enabling rapid processing of customer samples. The laboratory also boasts spherical polishing machines, as well as the latest Mitutoyo surface measurement and flatness inspection equipment.

If your components require optimum flatness to perform to specification, if they are difficult to break-in, or if you have a particularly tight deadline to meet, Fenwick Kemet's subcontract service is the answer. We have a reputation for service, reliability and quality, and specialize in fast turnaround times.

Our expertise is wide and varied: it includes lapping and polishing mechanical seals, valves, compact mirror discs, flat plastic mold inserts, comparison stages, spacers, cutting discs and aircraft or medical pump components. Our machines are equipped with standard and special honing tables to enable us to process most types of component. We can grind and/or polish components up to 530 mm in diameter (approx. 21").

We can treat most materials to a specific surface finish or flatness. Shouldered components (those with a raised center or shaft) can also be lapped. All work is returned with a Certificate of Conformity covering the surface finish and flatness generated, against the customer's drawing or specification. Our reputation is built on service, reliability and quality. Fast turnaround times are our specialty.

Fenwick also has a fully-equipped FinnSonic Technical Cleaning Center to clean your parts after honing or polishing. Our FinnSonic cleaning solutions range from small 3-liter laboratory tanks to multi-bath automatic cleaning lines of several hundred liters.
